What are the differences between V-shaped D bearings and other types of bearings?

1. Structural design and contact mode
The outer ring or raceway of the V-shaped D bearing is designed as a V-groove structure, which forms a precisely matched geometric contact surface with the V-shaped guide rail, realizes the line contact between the rolling element and the guide rail, and enhances the uniform distribution of the load. In contrast, deep groove ball bearings are point contact, tapered roller bearings are line contact but asymmetric structure, and self-aligning ball bearings are spherically symmetrical contact. Some V-shaped D bearings use V-shaped pocket cages to reduce the collision and friction between the roller and the cage by tilting the wall.

2. Load and carrying capacity
V-shaped D bearings can simultaneously withstand radial loads and bidirectional axial loads. In the automated guide rail system, its axial load capacity can reach 17kN and radial load 50kN. Although angular contact ball bearings can withstand radial and axial loads, they need to be used in pairs to support bidirectional loads. The double-row rolling element design disperses stress concentration and reduces the risk of edge stress. In contrast, thrust roller bearings have stronger axial load capacity but poor radial load adaptability.

3. Precision and motion performance
The V-shaped D bearing compensates for the guide rail installation error through clearance adjustment, without the need for high-precision machining of the base surface, simplifying the installation process. However, cylindrical roller bearings have strict requirements on the concentricity of the shaft and the bearing seat, and require precise matching tolerances. The V-shaped D bearing adopts a lightweight cage and low-friction lubrication design. Its linear speed can reach 10 meters/second, the friction coefficient is ≤0.0015, and the noise is less than 40dB.
